KPOP to End Broadway Run This Weekend

The short-lived musical opened on November 27.

After mixed reviews and low grosses, the Broadway production of KPOP will end its run at the Circle in the Square Theatre this Sunday, December 11 after 44 previews and 17 performances. Previews began on October 13, and the show opened on November 27.

KPOP is directed by Teddy Bergman, features a book by Jason Kim and score by Helen Park and Max Vernon, and choreography by Jennifer Weber.

The show features Luna, Julia Abueva, BoHyung, Major Curda, Jinwoo Jung, Jiho Kang, Amy Keum, James Kho, Marina Kondo, Eddy Lee, Joshua Lee, Jully Lee, Lina Rose Lee, Timothy H. Lee, Abraham Lim, Min, Kate Mina Lin, Aubie Merrylees, Patrick Park, Zachary Noah Piser, Kevin Woo, and John Yi.

KPOP came to Broadway following an acclaimed immersive production off-Broadway, which was much different than the current production. A cast recording will be released on February 24.

Music direction is by Sujin Kim-Ramsey, ccenic design is by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn, costume design is by Clint Ramos and Sophia Choi, lighting design is by Jiyoun Chang, sound design is by Peter Fitzgerald & Andrew Keister, projection design is by Peter Nigrini, hair and wig design is by Mia M. Neal, and makeup design is by Joe Dulude II and Suki Tsujimoto.

For the final show, 200 complimentary tickets are being offered to AAPI community members and youth. It will be followed by a panel discussion with composer Park, playwrights David Henry Hwang and Hansol Jung, and actor Pun Bandhu.
