Kathryn Meisle Replaces Veanne Cox in Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Much Ado About Nothing

Tony Award nominee Kathryn Meisle has replaced the previously reported Veanne Cox in the role of Beatrice in The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, according to The Washington Post. Ethan McSweeny directs the production, which runs November 25- January 1. The Post cites “artistic differences” as the reason for Cox’s departure.

Meisle recently played her role in Two River Theater Company’s production of the play. She received a Tony nomination for her work in the 2003 revival of Tartuffe, with other Broadway credits including A Touch of the Poet, The Constant Wife, and London Assurance.

The Much Ado cast will also star Derek Smith as Benedick, and feature Floyd King (Verges), Ted van Griethuysen (Dogberry) Bev Appleton as Antonio, Colleen Delany as Ursula, Ryan Garbayo as Claudio, Mark Hairston as Borachio, Rachel Spencer Hewitt as Margaret, Kate Hurster as Hero, Lawrence Redmond as Friar Francis, Matthew Saldivar as Don John, Ashley Smith as Conrade, Adrian Sparks as Leonato, and David Emerson Toney as Don Pedro.

The ensemble includes Aayush Chandan, Carlos J. Gonzalez, James Graham, Michael Gregory, Phil Hosford, Aaryn Kopp, Matthew McGee, Janel Miley, Jacob Perkins and Andrew Wassenich.

The creative team includes Lee Savage (sets) Clint Ramos (costumes), Tyler Micoleau (lighting), Steven Cahill (sound), and Marcos Santana (choreography).
