Good People, Metamorphoses, My Fair Lady, Other Desert Cities Set for Arena Stage Season

Arena Stage has announced the productions set for its 2012-2013 season.

Arena Stage will present the Lerner and Loewe classic My Fair Lady (November 2-January 6), directed by Molly Smith, which was originally seen this past summer at the Shaw Festival in Canada.


The season will kick off with One Night with Janis Joplin (September 28-November 4), written and directed by Randy Johnson. It will continue with a co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre of the world premiere of Cheryl L. West’s Pullman Porter Blues (November 23-January 6), which will be directed by Lisa Peterson, and David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People (February 1-March 10), which will be directed by Jackie Maxwell.

Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman will direct her award-winning play Metamorphoses (February 8-March 17), an interpretation of the myths of Ovid.; Tazewell Thompson will bring Mary T. & Lizzy K., his insider’s look at the unlikely friendship between First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln and her seamstress (March 15-April 28); Katori Hall’s Broadway hit The Mountaintop, about the last night in the life of Martin Luther King Jr, will directed by Robert O’Hara (March 29-May 12); and Jon Robin Baitz’s hit drama about an unhappy California family, Other Desert Cities, to be directed by Kyle Donnelly, will close the season.
