First Lady Michelle Obama Welcomes The Lion King to the White House

Cast members from Broadway's The Lion King traveled to Washington, D.C., to perform for First Lady Michelle Obama and the guests of the White House's Kids State Dinner on July 18.

The event welcomed 54 children, joined by a parent or guardian, to the White House to dine on a selection of healthy recipes, selected as this year's winners of the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. The third annual contest invited a parent or guardian to work with his or her 8- to 12-year-old child to create an original, healthy lunch recipe.
