Seattle Children’s Theatre Announces 2012-2013 Mainstage Season
Seattle Children’s Theatre has announced the productions set for its 2012-2013 mainstage season.
The season will open with classic favorite Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat (September 27-October 28). Next, the theater will present David S. Craig’s Danny, King of the Basement (October 18-November 18), in which Danny uses his imaginative life as a secret agent to help himself overcome a tough childhood. This winter, Dorothy will fall into the Charlotte Martin Theatre when SCT presents the John Kane adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz (November 15-January 6). The world premiere production of The Edge of Peace by Suzan Zeder will provide a touching exploration of community dynamics and the strength of individuals.
The season’s second world premiere will be a stage adaptation by Rob Burgess, Linda Hartzell, and Don Darryl Rivera of Eric Hill’s book about an imaginative puppy Adventures With Spot (March 21-April 28). Then, SCT will show yet another world premiere, this time of Y York’s Crash (April 18-May 19), based on Jerry Spinelli’s book about a bully who must learn about the important things in life. Linda Hartzell, Mark Perry, and Chris Walker’s Dot and Ziggy (January 13-February 17) will please even the youngest audiences.
Finally, the National Theatre of Great Britain and Bob Boyett in association with Handspring Puppet Company will present Nick Stafford War Horse, the tale of courage, loyalty, and friendship that is now a major motion picture.
