Full cast and creative team information has been announced for Seattle Repertory Theatre’s production of The Cure at Troy, written by Nobel-Prize winning poet Seamus Heaney and directed by Tina Landau. The show will run April 3-May 3, with an opening set for April 9.

In this adaptation of Sophocles’ Philoctetes, Odysseus discovers the only way to guarantee a victory over the Trojans is by using the bow and arrow of the god Hercules. But the weapon just happens to be in the hands of Philoctetes, a wounded soldier Odysseus abandoned on a wretched, muddy island ten years earlier.

The cast will include Guy Adkins, Hans Altwies, Ben Gonio, Jon Hill, Boris McGiver, and Seth Numrich. The creative team will include Blythe Quinlan (set), Anita Yavich (costumes), Scott Zielinski (lighting), and Josh Schmidt (sound/original compositions).

Heaney is the recipient of the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature “for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past.” Landau previously directed Time of Your Life at Seattle Rep, and other directing credits include the Broadway revival of Bells are Ringing and Iphigenia 2.0 at New York’s Signature Theatre Company.
