Gomez, Jones, Maupin, et al. Set for National Queer Arts Festival

The Queer Cultural Center will present the 11th Annual National Queer Arts Festival (NQAF) in San Francisco, June 1-30. The month-long festival of music, dance, visual art, spoken word, poetry, comedy, theater, and film will feature over 400 artists in 75 events and over 100 performances in 20 venues throughout San Francisco.

NQAF 2008 highlights will include Armistead Maupin in the Radar Reading Series (June 3), Rhodessa Jones in The Outsiders (June 17), Guillermo Gómez-Peña in The Outsiders (June 24), and Marga Gomez in Marga & More Boys (June 27). For a full list of performances, click here.

The theme of this year’s festival is Fringes, Margins & Borders, which will examine artists living on the fringes of both the mainstream straight world and the queer world. the festival will explore borders that keep these artists from their dreams and how they can bring their art from the margins to center stage without sacrificing their integrity.
