The Scottsboro Boys at A.C.T Extends Through July 22

A.C.T. is set to present the Bay Area premiere of Kander and Ebb’s The Scottsboro Boys, June 21-July 22. Susan Stroman will direct.

With a book by David Thompson, The Scottsboro Boys is a controversial musical about the true story of nine young African American men who are unjustly accused of raping two white girls.

The cast will feature Tony and Emmy Award winner Hal Linden as The Interlocutor as well as David Bazemore (Olen Montgomery), Nile Bullock (Eugene Williams), Christopher James Culberson (Andy Wright), Clifton Duncan (Haywood Patterson), Eric Jackson (Clarence Norris), Kendrick Jones (Willie Roberson), Jared Joseph (Mr. Bones), James T. Lane (Ozie Powell/Ruby), JC Montgomery (Mr. Tambo), Clifton Oliver (Charles Weems), Clinton Roane (Roy Wright), and C. Kelly Wright (The Lady).

The creative team will include Jeff Whiting (associate director and choreography), Beowulf Boritt (set design), Toni-Leslie James (costume design), and Ken Billington (lighting design), and Jon Weston (sound design).
