Gregory Harrison
Created by critic and author Rex Reed, The Man That Got Away: Ira Without George highlights the life of Ira Gershwin, George's older brother. The production follows Ira from childhood through the following decades of writing and focuses on the songs he wrote without his brother, including collaborations with major composers such as Harold Arlen, Kurt Weill, and Vernon Duke.
The performance will star Reed, along with Gregory Harrison, Sally Mayes, Linda Purl, and Kurt Reichenbach. The cast will be backed by a three-piece jazz combo led by Emmy Award winner Mike Renzi.
