Walnut Street’s Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story Extends Through July 22

Walnut Street Theatre‘s production of Buddy-The Buddy Holly Story has been extended through July 22. The production began performances on the WST Mainstage on May 14.

Casey Hushion directs and choreographs the musical, which stars Christopher Sutton in the title role. Written by Alan Janes, with music by Buddy Holly, the show follows the rocker’s meteoric rise to fame, from his humble country music roots to the top of the record charts and his untimely death in 1959. Among the songs included are “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” “Maybe Baby,” “That’ll Be the Day,” “Raining In My Heart,” Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace.”

Sutton’s wife Lyn Philistine plays Buddy’s love interest, Maria Elena. The cast also features Rachel Camp, Scott Greer, Danielle G. Herbert, Angela C. Howell, Miguel Jarquin-Moreland, Anthony Lawton, Ned Massey, Troy Valjean Rucker, Luke Smith, Jim Thomas, Jason Yachanin and Eli Zoller. The ensemble includes Johanna Carden, Aaron Cromie, Charlie DelMarcelle, Sarah Gliko, Sarah Hund and Greg Nix.

The production will feature set design by Robert Andrew Kovach, lighting design by Paul Black, costume design by Colleen Grady, and sound design by Matt Kraus.
