Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Announces 2012-2013 Season

Walnut Street Theatre for Kids has announced its 2012-2013 season of musicals based on books and a holiday favorite.

The season will open with Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great (September 22), a musical based on Judy Blume’s book about an easily frightened 10 year old. Next, the theater will present an adaptation of the popular children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (February 1-9). Then, a rock musical version of Doreen Cronin’s book about life in the world of bugs Diary of a Worm, A Spider and a Fly (March 30-April 13) will be presented. To close the season of literary musicals for kids, WST will present Ramona Quimby (June 1), the latest adventure of one of the world’s most animated elementary school students.

For the holiday, the theater will present a version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol (December 1- 22) adapted especially for kids.
