Orlando Shakespeare to Present Free Reading of Sweet Bird of Youth

Orlando Shakespeare Theater is set to present a reading of Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth, on January 8 at 7pm. The event is part of the theater’s free reading series, Three By Tenn, which celebrates the 100th birthday of American playwright Tennessee Williams. Patrick Flick will direct.

In this controversial play, Williams masterfully unfolds his story of a local boy gone bad. Lost innocence is impossible to resurrect, but shame and regret live on forever.

The cast will include Orlando actors Anne Hering (Princess Kosmonopolis) and Mark Whitten (Chance Wayne) as well as Ron Schneider (Boss Finley), John Connon (Tom Junior), Jennifer Bonner (Miss Lucy), Ryan Czerwonko (The Heckler), Bradford D. Frost (Scotty), Kraig Kelsey (Bud), Amanda Leakey (Edna), Elizabeth Murff (Aunt Nonnie), Megan Pickrell (Violet), Nathan W. Raley (Hatcher), Rudy Roushdi (Fly/Charles), Matthew Natale Rush (George Scudder), Michael Shenefelt (Stuff), and Kelli Rose Sleigh (Heavenly Finley).
