CTI Announces "Producing for the Commercial Theater" Intensive, April 25-27

The Commercial Theater Institute (CTI) has announced that its 21st Annual three-day intensive program on “Producing for the Commercial Theater” will be held April 25-27 this year in New York City.

The program is open to anyone interested in producing for the theater, be it Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, or touring shows. CTI will cover a variety of models for production, giving special attention to the relationship between the commercial and non-profit sectors.

Producers, general managers, marketers, and other theater professionals will lead the weekend’s workshops, which will include “Legal Aspects For Producing in Commercial Theater,” “Budget Analysis of a Production/The Role of the General Manager,” “Developing a Major Musical,” “Developing and Producing a Play Off and On Broadway,” “Advertising Agency/Press Agents/Marketing Consultants,” and “Producing for the Road.”

Among those scheduled to participate are the producers of such Broadway hits such as Hairspray, Movin’ Out, La Bohème, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Metamorphoses, and Off-Broadway’s The Vagina Monologues. Professionals from several other fields, including marketing and advertising, will also participate; and Jed Bernstein, president of the League of American Theaters and Producers, will lead the workshop on “Marketing for Broadway/Off-Broadway in the 21st Century.”

The fee for the program is $315, or $285 if payment is received prior to March 15.
