Broadway's Emily Skeggs, Jennifer Damiano, Lesli Margherita, and More Set for NYMF Shows

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theatre Festival, has announced the initial slate of artists set to participate in NYMF 2016. The festival will take place from July 11-August 7 in various Midtown Manhattan venues.

Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) will direct Newton's Cradle, which features book, music, and lyrics by Heath Saunders (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812) and Kim Saunders. This new musical begins performances August 3 at the Duke on 42nd Street.

Several more Broadway favorites are set to star in the festival's shows. Tony Award nominee Emily Skeggs (Fun Home) will star in a reading of Remission, with book, music, and lyrics by Rebekah Allen, which begins performances July 11 at Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studios, while Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano (American Psycho) and Meghann Fahy (Next to Normal) will star in reading of Emily Kaczmarek and Zoe Sarnak's A Lasting Impression, which will begin performances July 13, also at Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studios.

Mandy Gonzalez (Wicked), Jon Rua (Hamilton) and Nick Blaemire (Godspell) will lead a reading of Bread and Roses, with book and lyrics by Jill Abramovitz, music by Brad Alexander, and music direction by Alex Gemignani (Assassins). The reading will be presented twice on July 22 at Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studios. Anneliese Van Der Pol (That’s So Raven) will star in a reading of David Christensen and Michael Shapiro's Cookies, which begins performances July 14 at Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studios.

Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda The Musical) is set to appear in A Scythe of Time, with a book by Alan Harris and music and lyrics by Mark Alan Swanson. Performances are scheduled to begin July 21st at the June Havoc Theatre.

Tony Award winner Tony Sheldon (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) will star in Icon, with a book by Sebastian Michael and music and lyrics by Jonathan Kaldor. Icon begins performances July 20 at the Duke on 42nd Street.

The new musical Freedom Riders will feature Brynn Williams (Lazarus) and choreography by Jon Rua (Hamilton), book by Richard Allen, and music and lyrics by Richard Allen & Taran Gray. It is set to begin performances July 27 at the June Havoc Theatre.

Tony Award nominee Elizabeth A. Davis (Once) and Kathryn Gallagher (Deaf West’s Spring Awakening) will star in Dust Can't Kill Me, with a book by Abigail Carney and music and lyrics by Elliah Heifetz. Directed by Spring Awakening's Srda Vasiljevic, the new folk musical begins performances August 1 at the June Havoc Theatre.

Additional casting and creative team for all productions will continue to be announced. Readings are available only to NYMF Patrons and NYMF Pass Premium & NYMF Pass Plus holders.
