New York Theatre Workshop has announced an extension for its currently running production of Mary Jane, written by Amy Herzog and directed by Anne Kauffman. Originally scheduled to play its final performance on October 15, the production will now play additional performances through October 29. Mary Jane began previews on September 6 and officially opens September 25.

Coon takes on the title role, a single mother caring for her chronically ill son, who finds herself building a community of women from many walks of life. The full company also includes Liza Colón-Zayas, Dayana Esperanza, Susan Pourfar, and Brenda Wehle.

The creative team includes Laura Jellinek (scenic design), Emily Rebholz (costume design), Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Leah Gelpe (sound design), and Lisa Chernoff (stage manager).

Mary Jane is produced in association with Yale Repertory Theatre, where it was commissioned, and received its world premiere in April 2017. The production reunites Herzog and Kauffman, who collaborated on New York Theatre Workshop's 2013 production of Belleville. Coon is a Tony nominee for her performance in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
