Not Much More: The Fantasticks to End Off-Broadway Run February 24

The Off-Broadway musical revival of The Fantasticks, directed by Tom Jones, will play its final performance on Sunday, February 24 at 7pm at the Snapple Theatre Center's Jerry Orbach Theater. At that time, it will have played 27 previews and 628 regular performances.

Written by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, the musical is based on Les Romanesques by Edmond Rostand, and tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling fathers, but soon grow restless and stray from one another. The original Off-Broadway production of the show ran for more than 40 years at the Sullivan Street Playhouse. The score for The Fantasticks includes such songs as "Try To Remember," "Much More," and "I Can See It."

The cast stars Julie Craig as "Luisa," John Deyle as "Hucklebee," Burke Moses as "El Gallo," Jordan Nichols as "The Mute," Robert R. Oliver as "Mortimer," Nick Spangler as "Matt," William Tost as "Henry" and Martin Vidnovic as "Bellomy." Also featured are Tom Flagg, Stuart Marland, and Liz Holtan.

The artistic team includes Ed Wittstein (scenery and costumes), Mary Jo Dondlinger (lighting), Domonic Sack (sound), and Janet Watson (musical staging).

In his review of the revival for TheaterMania, David Finkle wrote, "In trotting out his valuable property for another go-round, librettist-lyricist and now director Tom Jones has wisely recreated as much as he remembered of the original Word Baker staging."
