Ron Howard's film version of Peter Morgan's play Frost/Nixon, starring Frank Langella and Michael Sheen, had the weekend's highest per-screen average, earning a total of approximately $180,000 on just three screens.
The film Four Christmases, which stars Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, Vince Vaughn, and theater veterans Kristin Chenoweth, Robert Duvall, and Mary Steenburgen, was the overall box office winner for the weekend, earning in excess of $18 million. It has earned over $70 million since its release.
Four Christmases, which focuses on a married couple who end up having to see four sets of parents over Thanksgiving when their planned trip to Fiji gets canceled, also stars Oscar winners Jon Voight and Sissy Spacek, along with Jon Favreau, Dwight Yoakam, Tim McGraw, and Colleen Camp.
