Jim Simpson will direct a reading of popular actor Hamish Linklater‘s play, The Vandal, to be presented by New York Stage and Film with Barnard College, in the latter’s Glicker-Milstein Blackbox Theater on Monday, October 17 at 7pm.

Set on a freezing night in Kingston, New York, the play centers on a woman who meets a boy at a bus stop. The work is about how we live and the stories we tell ourselves when we’re haunted by the people we’ve loved and lost.

Linklater is co-starring on Broadway this season in Seminar. He received an Obie for his performance in The School for Lies and a Drama Desk nomination for his performance in Twelfth Night. He is perhaps best known to television and film audiences for his five seasons on the hit CBS show The New Adventures of Old Christine. His prior writing credits include co-writing and creating the ABC pilot Prince of Motor City.

Simpson is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Flea Theater. He has directed over 70 works for the theater, and is a two-time Obie Award winner. He has also directed for film and television.
