Tony Award nominee Will Swenson will star in the U.S. premiere of Israel Horovitz’s 10 Years After Paradise, at the Cherry Lane Theatre on Sunday, September 11 at 2pm. Damien Gray will direct.

This new play is a companion piece to Horovitz’s 2001 solo work 3 Weeks After Paradise, which he wrote in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. It addresses the effects of September 11 on the world at large and on Horovitz’ own family.

Swenson currently stars in the Broadway production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical, and was Tony-nominated for his performance in Hair.

In related news, Angelina Fiordellisi, director of the Cherry Lane, has decided not to sell the theatre as was previously announced in December. The theater’s has been able to reduce its $250,000 deficit by two-thirds through reductions in staff and expenses, along with a streamlined budget and a steady succession of rentals. Fiordellisi anticipates the deficit will be paid off by January 2012.
