Nicole Ari Parker to Join Blair Underwood in Broadway’s A Streetcar Named Desire

Nicole Ari Parker will play Blanche DuBois and the previously reported Blair Underwood will play Stanley Kowalski in a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, to premiere in Spring 2012. The production will be directed by Emily Mann, and will feature an original score by Terence Blanchard. Further casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.


Parker’s stage credits include For Colored Girls… and The Vagina Monologues. She is best known for her work on the television series Soul Food, and her other film and television credits include Second Time Around and The Deep End.


Underwood’s theater credits include Measure for Measure, El Negro en Peru, and The Game of Love. He has been nominated for the Golden Globe Award for his roles in the television series, In Treatment and L.A. Law. His many film and television credits include The Event, Dirty Sexy Money, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Sex and the City and The Art of Getting By.


Mann’s Broadway credits include Having Our Say, for which she received a Tony Award nomination, as well as Anna in the Tropics and Execution of Justice. She is also the artistic director of the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey, and has directed many of their productions.
