Guy Fredrick Glass’ The Last Castrato to Play Off-Broadway in November

Gap in the Wall Productions will present Guy Fredrick Glass’ The Last Castrato, Off Broadway at the Connelly Theater, beginning November 12, with an official opening on November 16. John Henry Davis will direct.

Inspired by true events, the play tells the story of Moreschi , the last of the unique, almost forgotten group — the castrati — who in the early years of the 20th century, is the only one to make phonograph records. This is his personal journey through which he gains wisdom, self-confidence, and acceptance of his sexual identity through his artistry and aspiration triumphing over bureaucracy, conservatism, and raw political ambition.

Glass, a practicing psychiatrist, has had performances and readings of his plays in New York City, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Washington DC, England, and Japan. This is his first staged full-length play.
