Anne Cattaneo to Receive Margo Jones Award

Dramaturg Anne Cattaneo has been named the 2011 recipient of the Margo Jones Award, which will be presented to her in a ceremony on Monday, July 11 at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater.

Cattaneo is the dramaturg of Lincoln Center Theater and the creator and head of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors’ Lab. She will be the first dramaturg to be honored with the award, which was founded 50 years ago in 1961 by the playwrights Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee.

The Margo Jones Award celebrates Margo Jones’ work in the theatre. It is given annually to a “citizen-of-the-theatre who has demonstrated a significant impact, understanding and affirmation of the craft of playwriting, with a lifetime commitment to the encouragement of the living theatre everywhere.”
