The Guggenheim Museum has announced programming for its Fall 2009 “Works & Process” season, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series.

The season will kick off with Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s installation Levels of Nothingness (September 17-21), inspired by Kandinsky’s 1912 Yellow Sound. It will feature Isabella Rossellini reading seminal philosophical texts on skepticism, color, and perception, and her voice will be analyzed by computers that control a full rig of Rock-and-Roll concert lighting. As previously announced, Karole Armitage, who received a 2009 Tony Award nomination for her choreography of Hair, will choreograph The Blue Rider at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University, September 23 and 25. Both events are presented in conjunction with the full-scale retrospective of Vasily Kandinsky on view at the Guggenheim from September 18-January 13.

Isaac Mizrahi will narrate Sergei Prokofiev’s children’s story Peter & The Wolf, December 10-14, with George Manahan conducting the Juilliard Ensemble. Poet Ariana Reines will present a new theatrical work, Miss St.’s Hieroglyphic Suffering (November 15 and 16), starring Birgit Huppuch and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll.

Other artists and companies to be featured include choreographers Larry Keigwin and Peter Quanz, American Ballet Theatre, Shen Wei Dance Arts, Rolf Schulte and Fred Sherry, Vox Vocal Ensemble, and the Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble.
