Theater veteran Jason Biggs will star opposite Joel David Moore in the political comedy Grassroots, according to a report in Variety. Stephen Gyllenhall will co-write and direct the film, which is based on Phil Campbell’s memoir Zioncheck for President.

Biggs will portray a recently fired journalist who reluctantly agrees to spearhead the Seattle City Council campaign of his eccentric friend (played by Moore), a former pedicab driver with a burning passion for the Monorail.

Biggs starred on Broadway in Conversations with My Father and The Graduate and appeared Off-Broadway in Boys’ Life and Modern Orthodox. Among his many film credits are American Pie, Jersey Girl, My Best Friend’s Girl, and Kidnapping Caitlyn.
