Leslie Uggams’ Uptown Downtown CD Available for Purchase

Leslie Uggams‘ recording of her solo show Uptown Downtown is now available for purchase. A release date for digital downloads will be announced in the near future.

The show, co-written by Uggams with Michael Bush, who serves as director, charts the life and career of the Tony Award-winning performer.

Among the tracks on the two-disc set are “Born in a Trunk,” “My Own Morning” and “Being Good” (from Hallelujah, Baby!), “There’s a Boat That’s Leaving for New York” and “Summertime” (from Porgy and Bess), “Sunny Side of the Street,” “Up on the Roof,” “Hello, Young Lovers” (from The King and I), “Good Morning, Heartache,” “If He Walked into My Life” (from Mame) and “Stormy Weather.”

Uggams recently starred in Pipe Dream as part of the Encores! series at New York City Center. Her many other stage credits include On Golden Pond, King Headley II, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes, Jerry’s Girls, and Her First Roman, as well as Hallelujah, Baby!, for which she won the Tony. In addition, she received a Critics Choice Award, along with Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of Kizzy on the miniseries Roots.
