Broadway veterans Anthony Newfield and Paxton Whitehead will star in a staged reading of Anthony Wynn’s Bernard and Bosie: A Most Unlikely Friendship, to be presented by The Episcopal Actors Guild at Guild Hall in New York City, on Thursday, May 5 at 7pm.
The play explores the complex relationship between playwright and literary giant George Bernard Shaw (Whitehead) and the poet and intimate friend of Oscar Wilde, Lord Alfred ‘Bosie’ Douglas (Newfield), through letters one to another in the 1930s and 40s. The two are opposites in many ways, yet connect and form a friendship, which evolves into a Father/Son relationship.
