Tony Award winner Kevin Spacey will star in Hugh Hudson’s big-screen adaptation of George Orwell’s autobiographical book Catalonia, opposite Colin Firth, according to Variety.
As previously reported, Spacey will also star in Casino Jack, a biodrama about the life of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and the independent film Father of Invention, to be written by Jonathan Krane and Nichole Beattie and directed by Trent Cooper, which centers on a billionaire inventor who loses everything after one of his creations goes horribly awry.
Spacey won the Tony Award as Best Featured Actor in a Play for Lost in Yonkers and received a Best Actor nomination for The Iceman Cometh. His other New York stage credits include Ghosts, Hurlyburly, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and A Moon for the Misbegotten.
He is also the artistic director of The Old Vic in London, whose production of The Norman Conquests is currently on Broadway. He has also received several honors this year, including the Common Wealth Award for Distinguished Service, the Monte Cristo Award, and the Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts.
