Tony Award nominee Margo Martindale will join Tony Award nominee Patrick Wilson and two-time Tony Award winner Jennifer Ehle in an untitled CBS pilot, according to Deadline.com. She is taking over the role of Rita from S. Epatha Merkerson, who has withdrawn from the series.
As previously reported, Oscar winner and stage director Jonathan Demme is executive producing the series, and will direct the pilot, which is being written by Susannah Grant.
The show centers on Michael, a surgeon (Wilson) who has a connection to and information about the afterlife after his wife (Ehle) passes away.
