Stage and television star Sharon Lawrence will guest star on ABC's Grey's Anatomy later this season, according to TVGuide.com. She will play the mother of Dr. Izzie Stevens, played by Katherine Heigl.
Lawrence won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award last night for her work in Orson's Shadow. She has appeared on Broadway in Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, and Cabaret.
She received three Emmy Award nominations for her work as Sylvia Costas on ABC's NYPD Blue. Her many other television credits include Ladies Man, Desperate Housewives, Hidden Palms, and Privileged.
