Award-winning performance artist Laurie Anderson will perform at a benefit gala for Location One, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the contemporary art space, on March 5 at 7 pm.

Anderson will be honored for her contributions to the downtown New York art world and beyond, and the gala will also feature a preview of her art exhibition, From the Air: Two Installations, which will run in Location One’s gallery space, March 10-May 2. The title piece, From the Air, uses a series of 3D projections to create a story about the artist and her dog. The second installation, Aleph, projects sound electronically into the gallery, focusing the sound to make it seemingly emanate from midair.

Anderson’s performance works include O Superman, Life on a String, Songs and Stories From Moby Dick, The End of the Moon, and Homeland. As previously announced, she will present a solo performance, Transitory Life: Some Stories, at the Guggenheim Museum on March 12 and 13. She has also developed works in the fields of music, video, digital art, and sculpture.
