Michael Laurence and Mary Beth Peil will star in Primary Stages’ production of Willy Holtzman’s The Morini Strad, to run March 20 – April 28 at 59E59 Theaters. As previously reported, Casey Childs will direct.

The two-character play centers on an aging violinist (to be played by Peil), who develops an unlikely friendship with the violin maker (Laurence) she hires to restore her Stradivarius violin before she sells it. Violinist Hanah Stuar will provide live music for the piece.

Peil most recently appeared on Broadway in Follies. Among her other stage credits are Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Nine the Musical, and Sunday in the Park With George.

Laurence wrote and starred in Krapp, 39 and was seen in Primary Stages’ production of Michael Hollinger’s Opus.
