The production will be directed by Patrick Mason, the former artistic director of Ireland's Abbey Theater, and a Tony Award winner for the Broadway production of Dancing at Lughanasa.
Hecuba tells the classic tale of the Greek Queen who becomes a slave in the aftermath of the Trojan War, and whose children both become victims of the tragedy.
The show has been recently performed by such award-winning actresses as Vanessa Redgrave, Clare Higgins, and Joanne Camp.
McGuinness' plays include Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Dolly West's Kitchen, and Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Toward the Somme. He has previous written adaptations of Electra and A Doll's House.
Mason recently appeared on Broadway in Steel Magnolias and Off-Broadway in Wintertime. Her many stage credits include Cactus Flower, The Good Doctor, and The Night of the Iguana. She is a four-time Oscar nominee for her work in Cinderella Liberty, The Goodbye Girl, Chapter Two, and Only When I Laugh.
