Works by Joe Gilford, Bill Hollenbach, Howard Zinn, et al. Featured in The 9.13 Project Festival

One Armed Man has announced the lineup for The 9.13 Project, a two-week theater festival in support of free expression and radical thought, to run June 9-20 at The Brecht Forum.

The event will be broken into three segments. During the first, Patriots and Dangerous Radicals, there will be three one-man shows, portraying radical historic figures including, Thomas Paine in Bill Hollenbach's Citizen Paine (June 9), starring Adam Altman; Karl Marx in Howard Zinn's Marx in Soho (June 10), featuring Bob Weick; and Mark Twain in Adam Klasfeld's The Report of My Death (June 11), with Michael Graves.

Reviving McCarthy will be the theme of the second segment of the festival, in which new and classic plays about personal conscience and state control will be presented. Among the performances in this series will be a reading of Joe Gilford's Finks (June 12), which fictionalizes the experiences of his parents Jack and Madeline Lee Gilford during the blacklist. and FreEpLaY: ANTIGONE remix (June 13), a reworking of Sophocles' tragedy. There will also be a performance featuring works-in-progress by writers such as Leonard Jacobs, Liz Burke, and Julie S. Halpern on June 16.

The final section of The 9.13 Project will be Theater of War, which will include a staged reading of Steve Hevey's In My Name (June 19), the world premiere of Isaac Rathbone's look at technologies used in World War I, Captain Ferguson's School for Balloon Warfare (June 18), and Military Act (ion)s (June 17), a short play series featuring work by Drew Hildebrand and johnmichael rossi.
