MasterVoices, led by artistic director Ted Sperling, has announced the programming set for its 2017-18 season.

The season will open with George and Ira Gershwin’s Of Thee I Sing (November 2 at Carnegie Hall). The cast will feature Tony nominee Bryce Pinkham (Holiday Inn) as John P. Wintergreen, Tony nominee Phillipa Soo (Hamilton) as Mary Turner,
Elizabeth Stanley (On the Town) as Diana Devereaux, and two-time Tony nominee David Pittu (The Front Page) as French Ambassador.

Next will be Our America (March 7 at the Great Hall of The Cooper Union), celebrating how immigrants have shaped American music, as well as a new production of Orphic Moments (May 6 and 7 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater), an evening featuring Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice paired with Matthew Aucoin’s dramatic cantata The Orphic Moment.

The season will also include Naamah’s Ark (June 17, location to be determined), a MasterVoices commission, copresented by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council as part of the River to River Festival 2018. The piece features music by Marisa Michelson and lyrics by Royce Vavrek, and will star Tony winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) in the title role. Tickets will be free and open to the public.

"In designing this year’s programs I wanted us to wrestle with the issues that face us in the newspapers every day," said Sperling. "At a time when the country can seem so divided, MasterVoices' mission is ever more relevant: using the power of the human voice to connect, unite, and inspire. Our 2017-18 season is an opportunity for our audience to examine the impact of the human voice and the effects of choice, against the landscape of growing political and social concerns of our time."
