Lupita Nyong'o, Liesl Tommy to Team Up Again for Film of Trevor Noah's Born a Crime

Tommy directed Nyong’o in the Broadway premiere of ”Eclipsed”.

Eclipsed Tony nominees Liesl Tommy and Lupita Nyong'o will team up once again for a film adaptation of Trevor Noah's memoir Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Tommy will make her feature film directing debut with Born a Crime, in which Nyong'o will star as Trevor Noah's mother, Patrice. The film is produced by Noah, Nyong'o's Eba Productions, and Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt, and Sanaz Yamin of Mainstay Entertainment.

Nyong'o starred in Tommy's Broadway and the Public Theater's production of Eclipsed by Danai Gurira. Tommy recently directed an episode of the television series Queen Sugar.
