Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Kate Wetherhead to Release New Children's Novel

Watch the Broadway veterans discuss their book ”Jack & Louisa: Act 1”.

Broadway veterans and web series cocreators Andrew Keenan-Bolger and Kate Wetherhead have teamed up again — this time to write a kids book. The novel, titled Jack & Louisa: Act 1, draws on the two actors' success of their web series Submissions Only.

Jack & Louisa: Act 1 is a story of friendship set against the backdrop of musical theater. The plot is described as follows:

"Jack Goodrich has quite the impressive résumé for a twelve-year-old. With two Broadway shows under his belt and a third in rehearsals, he is weeks away from recording his first original cast album. But when his voice suddenly changes, Jack loses his dream role and moves with his parents to Shaker Heights, Ohio. As Jack tries to navigate life in the suburbs, his neighbor Louisa refuses to let him leave his New York past behind. Louisa is a self-proclaimed "Musical Theater Nerd" and can hardly believe her luck when an actor moves in down the street. What’s more, the local theater has announced auditions for her favorite show, Into the Woods. As the tryouts loom nearer, the two face difficult choices. Should Jack risk humiliation and return to the stage? Will Louisa have the confidence to go it alone? And can their friendship survive all those complicated octave leaps?"
