Cherry Lane Theatre to Present a Special Benefit for Puerto Rico and Mexico

Cherry Lane Theatre announced that it will present a special benefit event on Sunday, October 22, to help those affected by the recent natural disasters in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Titled Indestructible: A Special Benefit Event, and produced by Janio Marrero, the evening of song, dance, comedy, and spoken word will include Flaco Navaja (Def Poetry Jam), Irene Sofia Lucio (Wit), Emma Ramos (the web series BUTS), David Zayas (TV's Dexter), Rosal Colon (Netflix's Orange Is the New Black), Desmar Guevara & Elise Santora (Betsy!), stand-up comic Melissa Diaz, Ximena Salgado (La pre), muMs (Birdman), D’marquesina, Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black), and more to come.

One hundred percent of the ticket sales and donations will go to local organizations directly working with the affected. A nonperishable food drive will be held in the lobby during the event and items such as first aid supplies and baby products are welcome. Producers of the event are coordinating with the Puerto Rican Family Institute and Direct Relief Mexico to arrange delivery of donated goods.

Cherry Lane Theatre is partnering with LABrynth Theater, Primary Stages, Rattlestick Theater, Barefoot Theater Co., National Black Theater, InViolet Theater Co., Harlem Stage, Sol Project, Rhymes Over Beats, H.O.L.A., Two River Theater, Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, and Ensemble Studio Theatre for the event.
