Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS's annual Broadway Barks adoption event was held in Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 8. Malcolm McDowell hosted the event with his Mozart in the Jungle costar and Broadway Barks cofounder Bernadette Peters.

Tony nominee Kate Baldwin (Hello, Dolly!), Barrett Doss (Groundhog Day), Mamie Parris (Cats), Tony nominee Chad Kimball (Come From Away), Mimi Lieber (Indecent), Jelani Remy (The Lion King), Tony nominee Jennifer Simard (Hello, Dolly!), and Michael Xavier (Sunset Boulevard) all participated in the 19th annual event.

In addition, Peters and Broadway Barks have established the annual Mary Tyler Moore Award, which will be given to an individual or group who has changed the lives of homeless animals in a way that encourages others to do the same. The award is named after the late Mary Tyler Moore, who cofounded Broadway Barks with Peters in 1999. Sophie Gamand, an award-winning French photographer and animal advocate who lives and works in New York, will be the inaugural honoree.
