Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, and more starred in the benefit reading at Carnegie Hall for the organization Dramatic Need.

Carnegie Hall and the Africa-based creative arts charity Dramatic Need hosted the American premiere of The Children's Monologues on November 13.

Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle, who is also a Dramatic Need trustee, directed the production. The play comprised "the unforgettable stories of children growing up in Rammulotsi, a small rural township in the Free State province of South Africa."

The cast list for the evening included Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Sebastian Stan, Lakeith Stanfield, Jason Alexander, McKinley Belcher III, Common, Daveed Diggs, Andrew Garfield, Daniel Kaluuya, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, James McAvoy, Audra McDonald, Sienna Miller, Javier Muñoz, Trevor Noah, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Cynthia Erivo, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, rapper Little Simz, and Esperanza Spalding.

The one-night event will benefit Dramatic Need and Carnegie Hall. Dramatic Need helps vulnerable children in Africa build hope and self-belief in the face of conflict, trauma, and hardship, using the creative arts as a nonthreatening way of addressing development issues and trauma in children.
