A Christmas Story, The Musical Sets New Box Office Record

The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre has announced that A Christmas Story, The Musical has surpassed the theater's previous box office record in the final week of its limited Broadway engagement. The record was previously set by The Addams Family in the week ending January 1, 2012. The production, which will end its limited eight-week limited engagement on December 30, stars Dan Lauria (Lombardi) as Jean Shepherd, John Bolton (Spamalot) as The Old Man, Tony Award nominee Erin Dilly (Nice Work if You Can Get It) as Mother, Johnny Rabe as Ralphie, Zac Ballard as little brother Randy, Caroline O'Connor (Chicago) as school teacher Miss Shields, Eddie Korbich (Wicked) as Santa Claus, and Joe West plays Ralphie at certain performances.

With a score by composer/lyricist team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Joseph Robinette, based on the writings of radio humorist Jean Shepherd, A Christmas Story, The Musical is the story of Ralphie, a bespectacled boy a big imagination and one wish for Christmas—a Red Ryder BB Gun.

Reacting to the production's new record, Producer Gerald Goehring said, "…we never dreamed that we would break house records. What a terrific Christmas present to cap off our run at The Lunt-Fontanne!"
