David Cromer to Return to Off-Broadway Our Town December 22; Stephen Kunken to Join Cast January 5

David Cromer will return to the role of the Stage Manager which he originated in his production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town at the Barrow Street Theatre, December 22-January 3. He will be followed in the role by Stephen Kunken, who begins performances January 5.

The Stage Manager is currently being portrayed by Jason Butler Harner, who will continue in the role until Cromer’s scheduled return. The cast also includes Jeremy Beiler as Simon Stimson, Rob Beitzel as Howie Newsome, Susan Bennett as Mrs. Soames, Kati Brazda as Mrs. Webb, Will Brill as Joe Crowell, Nathan Dame as Sam Craig, George Demas as Constable Warren, Jennifer Grace as Emily, Ben Livingston as Professor Willard, James McMenamin as George, Ken Marks as Editor Webb, Jake Horowitz as Wally Webb, Lori Myers as Mrs. Gibbs, Jacey Powers as Rebecca Gibbs, Jay Russell as Joe Stoddard, Armand Schultz as Doc Gibbs, and Jason Yachanin as Si Crowell, with Elizabeth Audley, Dana Jacks, Keith Perry, Kathleen Peirce, and Mark Shock.

Cromer received an Obie Award for his direction of Our Town, and this production was also awarded 2009 Lucille Lortels for Outstanding Play Revival and Direction. Cromer recently made his Broadway directing debut with Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs, and has been announced to direct an upcoming Broadway revival of William Inge’s Picnic.

In related news, the production’s performance on Wednesday, December 16, will mark the occasion of this current staging of Our Town as the longest-running production of the play in its 71-year history.
