Chicago’s Goodman Theater will present mainstage productions of David Mamet’s 1977 play A Life in the Theatre, directed by Tony Award winner Robert Falls, and his 2005 comedy Romance, starring John Mahoney, as part of its March 4-April 23 David Mamet Festival.

The festival will also include productions of Mamet’s children’s play The Revenge of the Space Pandas or Binky Rudich and the Two-Speed Clock on Saturday mornings, March 25-April 22, and nine of the playwright’s one-acts (in three different groupings), including The Duck Variations and The Shawl, April 8-23.

Mahoney, who will play the Judge in Romance, was last seen at the Goodman in 1989 in Mamet’s adaptation of Uncle Vanya. He received a Tony Award for his performance in the 1986 Broadway production of John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves and is well known for his role of Martin Crane on the TV series Frasier.
