Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn will direct Michael Weller's Side Effects, to run May 12-June 26 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, with an official opening set for May 31.

Weller's play centers on a Midwestern couple who seem to have the picture-perfect marriage, but behind closed doors they're falling apart. She's grappling with bipolar swings, his rising political star is in danger, and their teenage sons are acting out.

Auburn received the Pulitzer Prize for writing Proof, and his adaptation of Langdon Mitchell's 1906 comedy The New York Idea will be seen at the Lortel Theatre, in an Atlantic theater Company production, January 6-February 13.. As a director, he recently staged Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance at the Berkshire Theatre Festival.
