Company XIV to Present Nutcracker Rouge Burlesque Show

Company XIV will present the world premiere of Nutcracker Rouge, at the company’s home in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, December 10-January 9, with an opening on December 12.

Described as “a Baroque – Burlesque confection of dance, theatre and sumptuous design,” the show is directed, choreographed and conceived by Austin McCormick, with a script adapted and written by Jeff Takacs.

The cast will feature Marisol Cabrera, Laura Careless, Sean Gannon, Yeva Glover, Michael Hodge, Mina Lawton, David Martinez, Delphina Parenti, Marla Phelan and Jeff Takacs. The creative team will include Zane Pihlstrom (set and costume design) and Gina Scherr (lighting design).

Company XIV is donating 50% of the show’s proceeds to the Ali Forney Center in New York City. The organization was started in June 2002 in response to the lack of safe shelter for LGBT youth in New York City and provides short and long term housing, free medical care, HIV testing, mental health services, showers, food, computer access and job training and placement at its drop-in centers in Chelsea and Brooklyn.
