Full Cast Announced for West End’s Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the musical stage adaptation of the 1994 Oscar-winning Australian film, will receive its European premiere at the West End’s Palace Theatre, beginning on March 10, with an official opening on March 23.

The production will be directed by Simon Phillips, written by Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, and will star Jason Donovan as Mitzi/Tick, Tony Sheldon as Bernadette, Oliver Thornton as Felicia/Adam, and Clive Carter as Bob.

The cast will also feature Zoe Birkett, Kate Gillespie, and Emma Lindars as the three Divas, Wezley Sebastian as Miss Understanding, Amy Field as Marion, Danielle Coombe as Shirley, Tristan Temple as Jimmy, Kanako Nakano as Cynthia, Steven Cleverley as Young Bernadette, and John Brannoch as Frank. Completing the company are Phillip Arran, Matthew Cole, Amy Edwards, Mark Inscoe, Zabrina Norry, Will Peaco, John Phoenix, James Rees, Craig Ryder, Jeremy Secomb, and Jon Tsouras.

In the show, which premiered in Australia in 2006, Sydney drag queen Mitzi (aka Tick) and her two fish-out-of-water friends, Felicia (Adam) and transsexual Bernadette, head west across the desert to Alice Springs in their battered old bus. Like the film, the musical is fashioned around classic disco hits including “I Love the Nightlife,” “I Will Survive”, “Shake Your Groove Thing” and “Finally”.

The show will feature choreography by Ross Coleman, musical supervision and direction by Stephen Murphy, production design by Brian Thomson, costume design by Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner, lighting design by Nick Schlieper, and sound design by Michael Walters.
