The full cast and creative team has been announced for the world premiere of 13, a new musical by Jason Robert Brown and Dan Elish, which will play the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, December 22-February 18. The show, to be directed by Todd Graff, will open officially on January 7.

The show takes place in a middle school in Indiana with a group of students who are sorting through the barrage of contradictory messages thrown their way. One student, Evan, is in a particular quandary: he’s the newcomer and needs to figure out a way to get all the cool kids to his bar mitzvah.

The cast and band, made up entirely of young teenagers, includes Ricky Ashley, Caitlin Baunoch, Molly Bernstein, Jenáe Burrows, Emma Degerstedt, Jamie Eblen, Julia Harriman, Jordan Johnson, Tinashe Kachingwe, Tyler Mann, Sara Niemietz, Ryan Ogburn, J.D. Phillips, Ellington Ratliff, Chris Raymond, Charlie Rosen, Alex Scolari, Chloé Smith, Christian Vandal, Nehemiah Williams, and Seth Zibalese.

The show will feature choreography by Michele Lynch, musical direction by David O., set design by David Gallo, costume design by Candice Cain, lighting design by Mike Baldassari, sound design by Duncan Robert Edwards, and projection design by Zachary Borovay. Brown’s previous shows include Songs for a New World, The Last 5 Years, and Parade, for which he won a Tony Award. Graff is best known as the director of the film Camp; he also starred on Broadway in the musical Baby.
