Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig have announced that the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots, which was capitalized at $13.5 million, has recouped its cost in just 30 weeks. The show, which opened on April 4, plays at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Kinky Boots features a score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper and a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein. It features direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell. Based on the 2005 British film of the same name, Kinky Boots follows Charlie, who tries to save his recently deceased father's shoe factory from bankruptcy by manufacturing shoes for drag queens.

The company is led by Tony Award nominee Stark Sands (American Idiot) as Charlie, Billy Porter (Angels in America) as the drag performer Lola, and Annaleigh Ashford (Dogfight) in the role of Lauren.

"We're proud that this show offers people such great joy, Tony Award-winning talent, and financial success, and it's exciting to be able to make this announcement in such a remarkably short time," said Roth and Luftig in a statement.
