Obskene, a new play conceived and directed by Tina Shepard and written with eight playwrights, will be presented by the experimental theater company Talking Band from November 1 to 17 at HERE.

Obskene, a Greek term referring to the off-stage violence that occurs but is never depicted in Greek tragedies, uses the frequently humorous and disturbing messenger speeches from Greek plays and reports from the near future. It is written with Talking Band founders Ellen Maddow and Paul Zimet, with Marcus Gardley, David Greenspan, Sidney Goldfarb, John Jesurun, Deb Margolin, and Lizzie Olesker.

Maddow and Zimet will head the cast, which also includes Andrew R. Butler, NicHi Douglas, Carlos Ibarra, John Kurzynowski, Jake Margolin, Anastasia Olowin and Cinaza Uche.

The production team features Shepard (co-scenic design), Lenore Doxsee (lighting and co-scenic design), Chris Giarmo (sound design), and Andrew Lazarow (video).
