Joe Cassidy, Donna Lynne Champlin, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Marie-France Arcilla, Nehal Joshi, and Kenita Miller will star in Prospect Theater Company’s upcoming revival of Working, set to run December 1-30 at 59E59 Theaters. Gordon Greenberg directs the musical.

Based on the Studs Terkel’s 1974 bestseller Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do, the musical looks at over 35 different Americans and their satisfaction with their jobs.

The musical has been adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso, with contributions from Greenberg. The score includes songs by Schwartz, as well as Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mary Rodgers & Susan Birkenhead, and James Taylor.

The creative team includes Alex Lacamoire (musical supervisor/arrangements/orchestrations), Josh Rhodes (choreographer), Daniel Feyer (musical director), Beowulf Borritt (scenic design) Mattie Ullrich (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Aaron Rhyne (projection design), and Jeremy Lee (sound design).

This version of Working had previous runs at Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse, Sarasota’s Asolo Repertory Theatre, and San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre.

The original 1978 Broadway production ran a total of 36 performances and featured Patti LuPone, Joe Mantegna, and Lynne Thigpen in the cast.
