Jill Eikenberry, Michael Tucker Celebrate Lynne Meadow’s Sardi’s Caricature

The legendary Sardi’s Restaurant honored Manhattan Theatre Club Artistic Director Lynne Meadow with a caricature on Wednesday, October 24, in honor of her 40th anniversary with the organization.

On hand to toast the director were her longtime friends and colleagues including playwright Alfred Uhry and actors Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker.

During the brief ceremony, Meadow, who proclaimed that it was “the best day of my life,” recounted her first time visiting Sardi’s, as a twelve year old following a matinee of the musical comedy Destry Rides Again. She admitted to not really enjoying the show, but the dinner left a lasting impression.

Meadow has worked with Manhattan Theatre Club since 1972. She received Tony Award nominations for her productions of Wit, Collected Stories, and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, and Drama Desk nominations for Nine Armenians and Woman in Mind. Under her leadership, MTC has been awarded four Pulitzer Prizes, fifteen Tony Awards, and dozens of Obies and Drama Desks.
